Pitch Creek Farm
About
Pitch Creek Farm is a highly innovative market garden in Nolalu, Ontario. The farm has been growing vegetables following organic practices since 2017. Pitch Creek Farm has a 150 member CSA program, contributes to another local farms CSA program, attends their local farmers market, and operates an online store.
The farm is committed to utilizing organic growing practices that minimize the impact on the local environment. They prioritize using natural fertilizers and pest control methods, refraining from synthetic alternatives and promoting a sustainable environment by producing their own compost on-site, and incorporating crop residues to enhance soil biology. Their relationship with customers is built on trust, and they have built lasting, meaningful relationships, reflecting their commitment to deep-rooted connections with the community.
Financial Need
Pitch Creek Farm has a clear vision for growth and expansion. With a loan from the Fair Finance Fund, the farm will build 4 new moveable tunnels on skis from multi-shelter solutions. The new covered space will enable them to increase the number of members and the length of their Spring and Fall CSA, as well as increase the availability of highly demanded crops, such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, basil, eggplants, and herbs, to their existing market streams during the summer months.
