Inclusive Prosperity
Beginning as a partnership between the Fair Finance Fund, Social Economy through Social Inclusion (SETSI), and the Learning Enrichment Foundation (LEF), Inclusive Prosperty is today an independent organisation under the umbrella of the Fair Finance Fund, working to challenge and dismantle barriers for equity-deserving farmers and food entrepreneurs.
By assessing and redressing biases in governance, operations, and lending practices of conventional institutions, Inclusive Prosperity works towards an equitable and inclusive farming future.
Community-Driven
We understand that racial bias in lending is a significant problem. Black, Indigenous, and other equity-deserving groups face unequal treatment from conventional lending institutions. This problem is perhaps most evident in access to farmland. The Inclusive Prosperity project builds on a 2022 feasibility study to ensure that all farmers have secure tenure to the farmland they need to thrive, building out community-led initiatives and striving to create opportunities for meaningful participation and economic empowerment.
Our Funds
African Canadian
Farmers Fund
We aim to foster African Canadians’ participation in the food and farm sector by dismantling barriers formed by systemic racism—creating an inclusive farm sector by addressing biases in governance, operations, and lending.
The Nourish Fund
Tailored financing options for local urban farms and food processing businesses, prioritising Indigenous and racialised farmers and organisations. Capital provided by the Nourish Fund helps to increase production and sales, improve local food accessibility and boost local economic growth.
