Mulberry Moon Farm
About
Mulberry Moon Farm is a small-scale, ecological market garden farm growing 30 varieties of vegetables using organic (non-certified) methods. They sell their food directly to the community, through their weekly Farm Share veggie box subscription (CSA), their self-serve farm store, and online. The farm aims to nourish their community with nutrient-dense local food cultivated that nurtures our soil's health, preserves biodiversity, and minimizes their environmental impact.
They strive to reestablish the connection between individuals and their food sources, offering a deeper understanding of how their food is grown. Through this journey of reconnection, they believe in empowering their community, to see access to wholesome food and knowledge as the stepping stones toward building a resilient and sustainable local food system.
Financial Need
Mulberry Moon Farm received a Fair Finance Loan in 2019 to establish their farm business in Strathroy, acquiring essential infrastructure. Over the past four years, they have expanded their customer base, increased yields, and added a farm store and seedling sale. To achieve financial sustainability, they plan to increase productivity through labor optimization and investments in equipment while aiming to boost sales by extending the growing season and upgrading their farm store.
