Moondance Organics
Moondance is a family-run organic market garden farm growing food and community for over 20 years. From an empty farm field, they have worked towards creating a biodiverse, healthy environment that supports growing healthy food and people. They specialize in producing a variety of vegetables through a CSA share, on-site market, online store and their community farmers’ markets.
The farm’s social mission is to serve its community through food production and distribution, education on healthy eating and how to grow your food. They believe in providing a space for community engagement, allowing families to visit the farm, enjoy their land, fields and woods, and participate in workshops where people learn and grow together in nature. They also work with local farmers and support them through exchanging knowledge, farming practices and food.
Financial Need
Moondance received a loan from the Fair Finance Fund to replace their water line and purchase a coverall permanent building. The water-line replacement will provide the farm with a safe, reliable water supply for their greenhouse, barn, animals and fields and will include the purchase of new water lines, connectors and hydrants. Moondance will be able to extend their season, do more in bad weather and expand management within their community thanks to the new building. The financing will go towards the foundation, walls, electrical service and water.
